How many hours will my child be in school?

Classroom hours will vary based on your child's center location.

Full-day sessions are six and a half (6.5) hours per day, five (5) days per week. Half-day sessions are three (3) hours per day, five days per week.

Is my child eligible for Head Start?

All children ages 3-5 are eligible for enrollment at FPT Head Start. Please be aware priority is given to children who meet the income guidelines with the goal that the children with highest need are served first. We determine need based on income and benefits information such as tax returns, W2's, check stubs, child support statements, school financial aid statements, TANF, SSI, SSDI, and WIC statements, tribal income, and other sources of income. We also consider a child's special or unique needs.

Do I have to be low-income to enroll my child in Head Start?

No! 52% of Head Start slots are for high income families.

I am the child's legal caregiver, but not the biological parent. Can I still enroll my child in Head Start?

Yes! Any legal guardian with custody over the child can apply for enrollment to Head Start.

How much does it cost to enroll my child in Head Start?

Enrolling your child at Head Start is free.

I am not an enrolled tribal member. Can I still enroll my child in Head Start?

Yes! Though we are a Head Start on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, we accept all children.

Does Head Start provide transportation?

At this time we do not provide transportation due to being understaffed.

Does my child need to see the doctor or dentist before they enroll?

Yes. They must have completed a well-child checkup from their doctor and dentist before we can complete the enrollment process and attend any Head Start center. Families can pick up these medical forms at the Administrative Building or print the form here.

What is the role of the Family Services workers in my family's life?

The Family Service workers provide families with referrals to community resources in areas such as emergency assistance, educational opportunities, and parenting classes. They will address the family as a whole and create short and long term goals for the duration of your child's enrollment.

Do you accept volunteers?

We love volunteers! Volunteers make an enormous difference and provide in-kind support for the program. If you are interesting in volunteering, please contact the administrative building so we may begin the application process.
